Job description
Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking a qualified, full-time Community Engagement & Communications Manager to lead the KLA Engagement & Communications Team and the delivery of these services to our clients and their community stakeholders.
The Community Engagement & Communications Manager will lead the design and implementation of community engagement strategies and communication campaigns to support our local government clients. This will include working with and advising clients on effective, equitable community outreach tactics, identifying and engaging a broad range of community members through accessible communication tactics, facilitating stakeholder meetings and activities, and integrating community involvement and feedback into climate action planning processes. The ideal candidate will be a strong writer and communicator with experience in facilitation, community engagement, marketing, and social media. KLA is an all-remote team, so the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a team through virtual platforms is essential.
KLA is a woman-owned, benefit corporation that partners with local governments to build their capacity to design and implement aggressive, equitable solutions to climate change. We do this by delivering affordable tools and services to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, and communicate climate action and sustainability goals and programs. We are now halfway through the most important decade for taking climate action to avoid catastrophic change. With this sense of urgency, KLA is scaling up its ability to support local action to reduce contributions to and prepare for the impacts of climate change. KLA is seeking a diverse team of innovative and self-driven individuals who are passionate, committed, and enthusiastic about joining this fight. Given that our clients are cities, towns, and counties located across the country, travel is expected and there will be weekend or 'after-hour' activities, depending on your location and our clients' needs. Please do not respond if you are not comfortable with this. This is a unique opportunity to learn and grow alongside a local climate action pioneer while helping us build a more sustainable future for all.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead KLA’s Engagement & Communications Team.
Lead the design and implementation of public engagement and communications strategies with our local government clients, including identifying target audiences and partners, engagement tactics, and metrics of success.
Lead the design and implementation of community surveys, focus groups, workshops, and other engagement activities, both virtual and in-person.
Oversee the development and design of communications and outreach materials.
Support the management and facilitation of Advisory Groups to develop climate action plans.
Manage relationships with client teams, ensuring our clients are reaping the benefits from our best-in-class service.
Design and promote new service offerings related to community engagement.
Serve as the Engagement and Communications Lead on various client projects.
Support business development through research, conference prep, networking, marketing, and other means.
Expected Results
KLA maintains its role as a leader in achieving inclusive, equitable community engagement outcomes.
The KLA Engagement and Communications Team is up to date on the latest best practices and is consistently innovating on community engagement and communication opportunities.
Community engagement outcomes are incorporated into climate plans in a seamless fashion.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000
Benefits:
401k plan (participation available after 90 days)
Health Reimbursement Account (participation available after 30 days)
4 weeks of paid time off (PTO)
Phone/Internet Allowance
Flexible work schedule and remote work
11 paid holidays + 2 floating holidays
Participation in KLA’s performance and accountability bonus program is available after 3 months of demonstrated success in position.
