Kim Lundgren Associates, Inc. (KLA) is seeking an experienced Part-time Bookkeeper to maintain basic bookkeeping, invoicing, and payroll tasks on a weekly basis. This role will report to the Director of Operations and work an average of 20 hours per week.
As a small but growing business, KLA is at the right stage of growth to bring daily accounting tasks in-house. The successful candidate will be experienced and self-driven, able to independently carry out day-to-day bookkeeping tasks without close guidance. Excellent existing process documentation will be provided to the new bookkeeper, and a transition period for training alongside the current bookkeeping firm will also be provided.

Expected Results
KLA’s financial records are up to date and accurate at all times.
Established Finance & Accounting processes are maintained.
Timely and accurate invoicing supports a healthy cash flow for KLA.
Biweekly payroll is run on time, without exception.
Errors, inaccuracies, and customer requests are resolved promptly.
Improvements to KLA’s process are identified and implemented with approval, when necessary.
Key Responsibilities
Record all day-to-day financial transactions and complete the posting process in Quickbooks Online.
File financial documents, including invoices, receipts, checks, and bank/loan statements
Prepare and issue invoices and perform follow-up as needed (Accounts Receivable)
Process payments to vendors and independent contractors (Accounts Payable)
Reconcile all accounts monthly and perform month-end closing
Process biweekly payroll and post payroll transactions, including reimbursable expenses
Update and maintain general ledger
Provide standard reports to CEO and Director of Operations on a weekly and monthly basis
Prepare basic annual financial statements
Assist CPA with tax payments and returns as requested
Support documentation requests for reporting or audits as requested
Interact with internal and external parties with a customer service mindset
Job requirements
At least 5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
Experience working in a small or mid-size business with project-based work (preferably consulting)
Experience with and strong understanding of cost accounting
Experience with and strong understanding of project accounting, with both Time & Materials and Fixed Fee billing models
Proficiency with Quickbooks Online and Excel
Ability to learn new systems for invoicing and file storage
Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry
Process-oriented but flexible when needed
Effective written and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Experience and Schedule
Position is remote, preference will be given to candidates in the Northern New Jersey area
Experience with BigTime software
Must be available to work a minimum of 3 days per week and a total of 20 hours per week
Some schedule flexibility is possible but must work at least partially during standard business hours Eastern Time, and be available for urgent needs at least one hour per day
Preference will be given to candidates who are interested in the potential for full-time employment in the future
